"To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower; Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour." William Blake

Death and Dreams

August 30th, 2006 by sunflowers

A month or so ago my grandfather went into hospital after collapsing at home. He had been diagnosed with Parkinsons a few months earlier which he basically ignored so fell over a few times and ended up with a blood clot on his brain which has contributed to his incapacity. Since then my grandmother has been looking after with the help of a carer.

Last night I dreamed that my grandmother had died which was quite upsetting as I lived with my grandparents as a child and have always been extremely close to my grandmother taking to her on the phone most weeks. This morning I phoned my grandmother up to check on her and found out that her cousin once removed who lives near the top of New Zealand passed away last night at the age of 106.

I have been delibreating using my few days of holiday and some unpaid leave to fly back to New Zealand for a week. But it is such a far way to go for such a short time period. The other option is taking a few weeks off my trip when I get to LA and flying from there.

I was just looking at the price of fares from LAX to AUK and some of the cheapest flights go through the South Pacific islands. A visit to Tonga or Samoa wouldn’t be such a bad thing!
